HONDA

honda225-1.jpg
With its powerful 3.5 liter V-6 single overhead cam (SOHC) engine, Honda Marine's BF225 offers superior outboard technology to sports anglers and recreational boaters alike.

Based on Honda's world-renowned Odyssey engine and featuring a Honda Exclusive Dual Stage Induction system, the BF225 delivers superior power and fuel economy throughout its rpm range.

With today's boater relying heavily on VHF radios, depth gauges and other electronics, the BF225's belt-driven, on-demand alternator delivers up to 90 amps of peak charging power.

World Famous Quality
By sharing many components with the Honda Odyssey and Acura MDX, the BF225 gains years of proven Honda engineering, precision manufacturing and reliability.

Large Displacement V6
The BF225s slim 60 profile and 3.5L V6 offer top performance and durability.

Dual Stage Induction
Most 4-strokes use long manifolds to deliver air into the cylinder head. Hondas variable intake system utilizes a plenum chamber with twin butterfly valves to control the volume of intake air into the combustion chambers. The result is a simple, compact design that improves overall operation.

VTEC
Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control system achieves the best of both worlds, by utilizing mild cam lobes to operate the intake valves at low RPM then, at 4500 RPM, engaging a "high output" cam lobe for high RPM operation.
BENEFIT
VTEC offers a superior blend of power, torque and fuel efficiency.

Lean Burn Feedback Control
Utilizes a Linear Air-Fuel Sensor, along with the Engine Command Module, to automatically adjust the air-fuel mix according to speed and load maximizing power throughout the RPM range and providing twenty percent greater fuel economy in the cruise mode from 2000 to 4500 RPM.

Dual Stage Induction
Most 4-strokes use long manifolds to deliver air into the cylinder head. Honda's variable intake system utilizes a plenum chamber with twin butterfly valves to control the volume of intake air into the combustion chambers.
BENEFIT
The result is a simple, compact design that improves overall operation.

Engine Command System
The EMC receives constant input from 18 different sensors and delivers instant starts, smooth operation, strong performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

Oxygen (O2) and Knock Sensors
Oxygen (O2) and knock sensors help determine the correct fuel flow and ignition curve to maximize performance and fuel efficiency.

High Output Charging
Belt-driven to reduce heat and improve reliability, the BF225s charging system features a 90 amp alternator for outstanding battery charging across the RPM range.

Dual Engine Applications
Eliminating the need for expensive transom modifications, the BF225s slim 60 profile allows for mounting of dual engines on a 26 center-to-center distance.

Engine Alert
The ECM monitors vital engine functions and prevents engine damage by alerting the operator of:
Overheating
Water in Fuel
Low Oil PSI
Battery
Over-Rev
Critical Engine Function

Balanced Engine
The 60 V6 fires every 60, offering the best in balance and durability and providing smooth operation throughout the entire RPM range.

2-Pass Cooling System
The unique cooling system maintains an even temperature on all cylinders. The incoming water passes through each aluminum exhaust manifold, then through the cylinder heads and back around the exhaust manifolds before entering the exhaust. This results in increased cooling efficiency and long-term durability!

Tuned Dual Exhaust
The competition's exhaust track goes through the middle of the oil pan, pre-heating the oil. Honda's dual exhaust headers wrap around the outside of the oil pan, which not only reduces heat build-up, but also increases engine efficiency and performance!

Multi-port Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)
Delivers the precise amount of fuel/air to each cylinder. The result is quick starts, instant throttle response and low fuel consumption.

Positive Lubrication
A crankshaft-driven, automotive-style trochoid oil pump ensures long-term durability of critical engine components.

Non-Linear Mounting System
Patented non-linear rubber mounts provide smoother operation at all engine speeds.

Single Latch Cowl
A single front-mounted latch combines with 4 securing points to ensure a water-tight seal.

Sealed Starter
The starter motor is inverted into a sealed chamber that protects the starter bendix drive from the elements.

Corrosion Protection System
A patented, "Double Sealed" multi-layered paint process. Sacrificial anodes and stainless steel technology, along with waterproof connectors, all enhance corrosion protection.

Fresh Water Flushport
Flushes debris and saltwater out of the engine, extending the life of the outboard.

Stainless Steel (Steering Arm, Tilt Tube and all Shafts)
Durability with long-term corrosion resistance!

Counter Rotation
Improves efficiency, hull maneuverability and decreases driver fatigue.

Built-In Pitot Tube
Built-in pitot tube in the gear case eliminates the need to drill holes in your boat for installation.

Ultra Low 3 Star Carb Emissions
Cleanest technology available.
